The most damaging mistake I’ve seen is new ppl tend to want to make it feel like traditional. It is a digital tool so use it like one. Your dream pencil brush is never gonna come if you want that traditional feel then go with real pencil 😂. Color adjustment, transform, photobash, lasso, use hard brush to sketch quickly because you can just always soften things up easily etc

I somehow managed to come across your video today. I recently treated myself to a new iPad for Christmas while I found time to find a apple pencil on sale not long ago so i can enter the world of digital art again n give it another shot with ProCreate. Really loved how well you explained these beginner mistakes to highly avoid and glad to have given it a watch through. It helped me understand fully on what not to do with making digital art now. I can't wait to practice digital art this year and get decent with it. Thanks so much Brooke.

I lost every artwork except those I exported. Can you imagine losing every .psd file because you uninstalled Photoshop? I switched to Clip Studio Paint. I use ProCreate only for scribbles.

Does barrel roll and squeeze work in pro create right now? I have the pencil pro and latest procreate but it doesnt seem to work those two function

The last point is the most important. No one was born a top tier artist any more than any one was born a world class chef, Olympic athlete, or math guru. All require study and practice over time. People are quick to dismiss artistic skill as innate or god-given talent when it's really just years of practice (and plenty of not-so-good-looking pieces along the way). Anyone can do it - gate's wide open :) come in and draw!

Totally true. You really don't need fancy gadgets to make digital art. When I first got started, I just made little doodles in MS Paint. As a child. As an adult, I still like to use MS Paint. Sometimes. It's a simple painting tool. But man, Clip Studio Paint is soooo much more powerful. I can draw curves in MS Paint easily, but it's even easier to draw curves in Clip Studio Paint. I only have Clip Studio Paint on desktop/laptop, connected to a mouse, as it is the perpetual license one-time fee that has attracted me to buy it. On iPad and iPhone, I use Autodesk Sketchbook (free app), and I have to admit, it's totally cool. I actually don't have an Apple Pencil, no, but I do have my fingers, and I just finger-paint. I do a lot of finger-painting. Believe it or not, the Apple Notes app is also what I use to make simple doodles, and I do that with finger-painting. My fingers are, of course, very imprecise, but the best I can do is a basic sketch.

I wish I had known about the apple pencil sensitivity years ago when I bought it! (I got the cheaper usb one...). That could explain why I find it so hard to stick to drawing on my ipad when I acquired it for comfort and recreation in the first place. Your explanation about mistakes 3 and 4 was SO HELPUL! <3 I can't wait to put them into practice.

Hey, thanks for the great content! Do you think the 11-inch iPad Air 6th Gen and the Apple Pencil Pro will work for someone who's brand new to Procreate? I plan to use the setup mainly for calligraphy, graffiti-inspired stuff, and somewhat simple drawings and sketches. I'll also use the iPad in my Glidegear Teleprompter, which doesn't fit a device larger than 11 inches. Should I go through the hassle of changing the teleprompter for the 13-inch, or will the 11 be just fine? I am also kind of on a budget. I'll be happy if you answer. Regards!

Sorry if u think I’m young. I’m ending fifth grade and I think I want to start to do digital art over the summer :p I’ve watched some videos beforehand to see what iPad would be good for me. I wanted to get the Reg iPad 10, but then I watched this video and also thought that I should get more storage, I don’t care if I only have 7 layers, that’s good enough for me. I was going to get 64 gigs but I don’t know if that would work for me. I don’t know if I will need to use my personal iPad a lot in middle school but I don’t think so. I don’t know if I should just still get the Reg iPad 10 with 64 gigs. Or should I wait till I am older and am better at art. Please reply and give me ideas. No, you don't need the new apple Pencil Pro/iPad. Artists have been making wonderful digital art for years without it. Don't give in to fomo.

The procreate layers chart you developed @5:41 is amazingly helpful towards my next iPad Pro purchase. I'm almost always working in 11x17 300dpi so this was close enough. Thank you for this!

Hilariously I bought an m2 iPad two months ago, it was dropped on me suddenly due to an opportunity and I did want a larger screen. If I was buying an iPad now, It would be an air 6th gen 13 inch most likely, at the same time if given the opportunity again, it would likely be the m4 iPad. I do wish I could use the new pencil with my m2 but all well, I’ll wait a few generations as I want to give my m2 a bit of mileage now.

Hey there! I have a question, for uni. and watching movie-shows yt etc. Which one should i buy; ipad air m2 11" or ipad pro m2 11" (all of them with pencil tho) ? In my country the ipad pro m2 11" is 5k more than new ipad air so which one is better for long term? New ipad is 2 years younger and it will be get more updated that's the two reason im stuck with it: m2 pro price and update stuff... 🤷🏻‍♀️ oh and also is it worth it to pay extra 10k for 12.9 screen ? (i know its stupid tho...)
